About We Do Care

Our Story

We Do Care, formerly Family Home Support Services (est. 1998), was founded by two visionary Registered Nurses, Janet and Bart. Long before “restorative care” became a recognised approach in Australia, they were already championing it. Their mission was simple but powerful: to help people maintain their independence and remain safely in their own homes for as long as possible.

As founding members of Australian Restorative Care Services in the 1990s, they promoted care that focused on preventing hospitalisation, restoring function, and supporting wellbeing. Their philosophy shaped the organisation from day one – and continues to guide us today.

When the remaining Director retired in 2015, she entrusted the business to the two people who had walked beside her for more than a decade – our current Directors, who had worked with her for 10 and 15 years across both field and administrative roles. Today, she is one of our valued clients and continues to hold a special place in our hearts. We honor her legacy by upholding the vision and values she built the company upon.
